There is no richer tradition in college sports than University of Kentucky basketball. Tales from the Kentucky Locker Room recounts the school's glorious roundball history through timeless stories from the players and coaches who shaped it. Some of the stories will leave the reader howling with laughter, others will inspire tears, but all will enable the reader to experience a feeling of closeness to the unique phenomenon that is Kentucky basketball. Former University of Kentucky play-by-play telecaster Denny Trease highlights the hilarious anecdotes and poignant tales told and retold during more than 70 years of Wildcat mania. M. Newton, and many more. Their remarkable on-court performances, zany antics, and sometimes-subtle one-liners make Tales from the Kentucky...
Memories of my childhood - riding Fleet Foot, my stick horse in the back yard; making Mulberry pies and pastries; writing coded messages in invisible ink; creating a back yard circus the equal of Barnum and Bailey, all this with a sense of endless, leisurely time - swept over me one afternoon as I reminiscenced in a pensive mood.

But at the same time, I was struck by the fact that while vastly different - separated by decades and experienced in a digital world unimaginable in my youth - similarities and never-to-be diminished universal truths existed between the two. The yin/yang of this relationship, this dichotomy, captured my attention.

It is in the historic sense of a chronicler that I pass these stories on to you.
